   CLIMATIC  FEATURES  OF NAGPUR  DURING  OCTOBER

 

The following are the general climatic features during the month of October for Nagpur based on past data.

The southwest monsoon normally withdraws from Nagpur by the first fortnight of October. With reduced cloudiness, days in October are warmer and nights are cooler than in the previous month. The surface wind have northerly direction. The normal maximum temperature is around 32.0°c and minimum temperature is between 21.0 to 19.0°c. average number of days of thunder storm is about 2. the normal rainfall of this month is 46.6 mms with 3 rainy days.

On rare occasions Nagpur comes under the influence of cyclonic storm from the Bay of Bengal which crosses the Andhra coast. On such occasions relatively heavy amounts of rainfall is recorded at Nagpur and adjoining areas.

On the basis of the available records Nagpur experiences following extremes values:

1 The highest maximum temperature of 38.3°c on 8th October 1899.

2. The lowest minimum temperature 11.6 °c on 25th October 1960.

3.The highest monthly total rainfall of 363.1 mms in the year 1985.

4. The heaviest fall in the 24 hours was 172.8 mms on 12th October 1985.

The rainfall recorded in this month during last decade with number of rainy days and number of days of thunder storm are indicated below..

·        CLIMATIC  FEATURES  OF AKOLA  DURING  OCTOBER

 

The following are general climatic features during the month of October for Akola Based on past data.

The southwest monsoon normally withdraws from Akola by the first week of October. With reduced cloudiness, days in October are warmer and nights are cooler than in the previous month. The surface wind are fromnorthwesterly to northerly direction. The normal maximum temperature is around 33.0° C and minimum temperature between 21.0 to 18.0°C. Average number of days of thunderstorm is about 1. The normal rainfall of this month is 46.3 mms with 3 rainy days.

On rare occasions Akola comes under the influence of cyclonic disturbances from the Bay of Bengal which cross the Andhra coast. On such occasions relatively heavy amounts of rainfall is recorded at Akola and adjoining areas.

  On the basis of available records,Akola experiences following extremes values :-

1) The highest maximum temperature of 40.0°C on 7th October 1899.

2) The lowest minimum temperature of 10.0°c on 26th October 1889.

3) The highest monthly total rainfall of 225.8 mms in the year 1892.

4) The heaviest fall in 24 hours was 123.9 mms on 3rd October 1988.

CLIMATIC  FEATURES  OF BHOPAL  DURING  OCTOBER

 The following are general climatic features during the month of October for  Bhopal based on past data.

The southwest monsoon normally withdraws from Bhopal by the last week of September. During October with reduced cloudiness, days are warmer and nights are cooler than the previous month. The surface winds have northerly direction. The normal rainfall for this month is 31.7 mms with two rainy days.

On very rare occasions Bhopal comes under the influence of cyclonic disturbances from Bay of Bengal which crosses the Andhra coast. On such occasions relatively heavy amounts of rainfall is recorded at Bhopal and adjoining areas. Days are rather sultry and uncomfortable due to high humidity.

In this month normal maximum temperature is around 34.0°c and minimum temperature between 21.0° to 19.0°c. Average number of days of thunderstorm are about 2 and the average relative humidity during day and night time are about 41% and 62% respectively. Both day and night temperatures start falling as month advances

On the basis of the available records Bhopal experiencesbfollowing extremes values 

1.The highest  maximum temperature 37.8°c on 5th October 1951

2 The lowest minimum temperature 11.7°c on 31st October 1943 and 27th October 1971.

3. The highest monthly rainfall 227.3 mms in the year 1961.

4 The heaviest fall in 24 hours was 123.7 mms on 3rd October 1955.

The southwest monsoon normally withdraws from Indore by the last week of September.  During October with reduced cloudiness, days are warmer and nights are cooler than the previous month. The surface winds have northerly direction. The normal rainfall for this month is 33.5 mms with two rainy days.

On very rare occasions Indore comes under the influence of cyclonic disturbances from Bay of Bengal which crosses the Andhra coast. On such occasions relatively heavy amounts of rainfall is recorded at Indore and adjoining areas. Days are rather sultry and uncomfortable due to high humidity.

 In this month normal maximum temperature is around 31.0°c and minimum temperature between 20.0°c to 15.0°c. Average number of days of thunderstorm are about 2. Both day and night temperature start falling as month advances.

  On the basis of the available records Indore experiences following extremes values:   

 1. The highest maximum temperature 37.8°c on 6th October 1899.

 2. The lowest minimum temperature 8.9°c on 31st October 1890.

 3. The highest monthly rainfall 230.3 mms in the year 1985.

  4. The heaviest fall in the 24 hours was 157.4 mms on 9th October 1985.

 The following are general climatic features during the month of October for Raipur based  on past data. 

The southwest monsoon normally withdraws from Raipur by the first fortnight of October. With reduced cloudiness, days in October are warmer and nights are cooler than in the  previous month. Surface winds are northerly to northeasterly direction. The normal maximum temperature is around 32.0°c and minimum temperature is between 18.0 to 21.0°c. average number of days of thunderstorm are about 3, the normal rainfall of this month is 53.9 mm with 4 rainy days.

On rare occasions Raipur comes under the influence of cyclonic storm from the Bay of Bengal which crosses the Andhra coast. On such occasions relatively heavy amounts of rainfall are recorded at Raipur and adjoining areas.

On the basis of the available records Raipur experiences following extremes values:

     1.The highest maximum temperature of 37.8°c on 11th October 1899.

     2.The lowest minimum temperature of 13.9°c on 30th October 1933.

     3. The highest total monthly rainfall 246.4 mm in the year 1886.

     4. The heaviest fall in 24 hours was 148.6 mm on 8th October 1900.
